 | Peter, who was in charge of the mechanics of the car There is Peter, the guy in white. (the picture is taken in Nepal) he was/is really a Master. I will never forget how Peter proofed to be best mechanic in the world.
We were traveling at night towards Lourenco Marques (At the time the capital of Mozambique).
I don’t remember who was driving but Peter was sound asleep. Peter woke up screaming: Stop the car! We thought he had a bad dream and told him to go back to sleep. But he insisted very loudly and so we stopped. We were on a small road right in the middle of elephant grass very tall left and right. In the car it got hot too soon so we decided to sleep on the road. The mosquitoes were more than plenty and one could only sleep under a blanket to avoid the mosquitoes. It was very difficult not to lose the nerves. The morning did not come soon enough. Peter was convinced that a piston was malfunctioning. With the next passing car he went on to get another piston. After he came back he repaired the engine and all went on to the city. He was right, of course, and avoided a major breakdown. He could hear it coming. |
